How to make tasty lauki kofta at home


•Feeding lauki(bottle gourd) vegetables to children of today is a bit more difficult task, but what to do, everyone wants that children should eat it considering it as tasty, so let’s make gourd in another way like round-round soft kofta and make Lauki kofta ki sabzi with tangy and spicy gravy.


•Lauki – 1½ cups grated

•Besan – 5 tbsp

•Rice flour – 2 tbsp

•Turmeric Powder – 1 tsp

•Green chili – 1 finely chopped

•Ginger-garlic paste – 3 tbsp

•Onion – 3 tbsp finely chopped

•Oil – as required

•salt to taste

•Tomato – 2

•Cumin – 1/2 tsp

•Coriander Powder – 1 tsp

•Red chili powder – 1/2 tsp

•Garam masala powder – 1/2 tsp

•Curd – 1/4 cup thick

•Water – as required

•Preparation time: 10 minutes

•Cooking time: 35 minutes

•Total Time: 45 Minutes


STEP 1: Grate the bottle gourd and make koftas.

First of all, wash and peel the bottle gourd and grate it. Add salt to the grated gourd and keep it covered in a bowl for half an hour. After half an hour all the water of the gourd will come out, then squeeze the gourd well and put it in a bowl again. Then put sifted gram flour and rice flour, turmeric powder, grated ginger-garlic paste, green chili, onion and salt in the bowl and mix all the ingredients well and make small round koftas of the mixture. . Keep the prepared koftas in a lightly oiled plate.

STEP 2: Deep fry the koftas in a pan.

Now take a pan filled with oil and keep it on the gas on high flame and heat it. When the oil becomes hot, then reduce the flame to medium and put the koftas one by one in the pan and deep-fry it by continuously turning the koftas in the pan and fry till they become golden brown. Remove the fried koftas from the pan and keep them in a plate to cool down.

STEP 3: Fry the spices in a pan till the aroma of roasting comes.

Add cumin seeds and fry them in the remaining oil of the pan. Then add grated ginger-garlic paste and finely chopped onion and fry till it turns brown. When the onion is fried and fried well, then add tomato puree and let it become soft on medium flame. As soon as the tomatoes become slightly soft, add salt, red chili powder, coriander powder, garam masala powder and turmeric powder to the pan and fry for 1 minute while stirring continuously in the pan until the aroma of spices comes out. After that add thick curd and mix the curd in the mixture well with a spoon and cook again for 1 minute. Then add some water and let it come to a boil. When the water comes to a boil, put the fried koftas in the pan and cook for 5 minutes on medium flame. Switch off the gas after 5 minutes. Lauki kofta is ready.
