“DELICIOUS IN TASTE, DHABA STYLE CHANA DAL TADKA.”
•Most of the dals are prepared by adding tempering first but in Punjabi dhaba style tadka dal, tempering is applied at the very end which makes this dal unique and also in taste. Tadka dal is so spicy and tangy that lovers of spicy veggie cannot survive without tasting it.
INGREDIENTS OF TADKA DAL.
•Arhar – half a bowl
•Lentil dal – half a bowl
•Chana dal – half a bowl
•Salt – 1/2 tbsp
•Turmeric – 1/2 tbsp
•Red chili – 3 dried
•Cumin – 1 tbsp
•Asafoetida – 1/4 tbsp
•Green chili – 1 finely chopped
•Garlic cloves – 5-6
•Finely chopped – 1 inch ginger
•Finely chopped – 1 tomato
•Red chili powder – 1 tbsp
•Finely chopped – 2 tbsp Onion
•Water as required
•Preparation Time: 5 minutes
•Cooking time: 20 minutes
•Total time: 25 minutes
~Method:-
STEP 1: Wash and boil the pulses in water.
First of all, take tur dal, lentil dal and gram dal and put it in a bowl. After that soak all the lentils in water for 10 minutes and after 10 minutes wash it thoroughly with water. Then take a cooker and put washed lentils, salt and water in it and put it on the gas on medium flame and put it in the cooker for about 4 whistles. After coming to the city, turn off the gas and give it to the city itself.
STEP 2: Heat oil in a pan.
Take a pan and put it on the gas on medium flame, put oil in the pan and heat it, when the oil becomes well hot, then add finely chopped onion and fry it till it becomes light brown color, after that add ginger, garlic and Add finely chopped green chilies and fry for 1 minute. Take care that the garlic does not burn. Then add chopped tomatoes in the pan and fry till soft. When the tomatoes become soft, then add salt, red chili and turmeric powder and mix all the spices with a spoon.
STEP 3: Prepare the tempering for the dal.
Now put the boiled lentils in the pan and mix it well with a spoon. Now add some water to thin the dal and let it thicken on low flame. Keep stirring the dal from time to time with a spoon so that the dal does not burn and let it cook for 5 to 7 minutes. After 5 minutes turn off the gas and keep the dal covered with a plate. Now heat oil in another pan and add cumin seeds and fry till it turns light brown, then add dry red chili, asafoetida and garlic and fry till the aroma of all the spices comes and turn off the gas. And pour the tempering into the prepared dal pan and mix well. Tadka dal is ready.
